Men's Basketball Drops SSC Opener To Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball was held to just 60 points in taking their first loss of the season, 76-60 to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday night.
The Sailfish fall to 1-1 on the season as the Sharks improve to 1-1. The ‘Fish shot just 35.6 percent from the floor and connected on only 5-of-24 from long range. Nova made 57.4 percent of their field goal attempts including 62.5 percent in the second half.
PBA kept the game close throughout the first half and early part of the second half. PBA cut the margin to six at 45-39 with 16:37 to play but the Sharks closed to the media timeout with a 5-0 spurt to grab their first double digit lead. The Sharks pushed the lead out to 16 before PBA responded.
A 9-0 run for the Sailfish sparked by a three-point play by De’Ondre Jackson pulled PBA back within seven with 9:22 to go. The Sharks answered and pushed the lead back up to double digits and kept it there the rest of the game.
Jackson led the team with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting including 2-of-6 from downtown. Lucas Morales added 10 points and seven rebounds for PBA, making 4-of-6 from the floor. Malek Barber also grabbed seven boards and scored nine points, doing most of his damage at the free throw line, making 5-of-8. Matthew Johnson led the team with four assists and scored five points.
The Sailfish are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Boca Raton to take on Lynn University at 4 p.m.
