WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- For the second consecutive year, the Sailfish men’s soccer team find themselves playing for the NCAA South Region championship. The game will be Friday afternoon, as Palm Beach Atlantic battles the University of Tampa Spartans on the campus of Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.

Friday’s match will be the third meeting between the Sailfish and Spartans this season, with each team winning one game a piece.

The first time the Sailfish battled Tampa was Oct. 26 as the ‘Fish were victorious 3-0 in Tampa. Felipe Clavijo, Charlie Dennis, and Fredo Dilbert each scored in the contest en route to the shutout win.

The second time these two teams faced off was in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Semifinals back on Nov. 4, and the Spartans upset the top-seeded Sailfish 2-0. Bay Downing and Mike Ciluffo led the way for Tampa scoring the only goals the night.

The Spartans are on a hot streak of late, winning three of their last four matches, all without allowing a goal. So the key for PBA is to score early on Friday, as the last time Tampa allowed a goal, it was in their 3-0 loss to PBA on Oct. 26

For fans unable to make it to Wingate, N.C. to watch the Sailfish and Spartans, a live broadcast will be streamed on ESPN3, and Live Stats will also be available.
