PBA Sweeps Florida Tech For Second Straight Day

MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second time in two nights the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team came out on top of the Florida Tech Panthers, 3-0. The Sailfish have won 26 straight after the 25-16, 25-23, 25-12 victory.

The Sailfish had another strong offensive night, hitting .320 in the match as Emma Ballantyne led the way with a .471 attack. The senior collected 10 kills and added two blocks. The ‘Fish hit .565 as a team in the third, collecting 14 kills in the set.

Ally Rohn also tallied 10 kills with 10 digs as well. The team had 52 digs overall with Katie Ballantyne and Susie Forbes leading the way with 11 each. Abby Palkert added seven kills in the match and a .429 percentage. She also had three blocks.

Sarah Ragland led the team with five blocks and also added six kills. Molly Burkhardt collected 28 assists and three kills to go along with two aces. The Sailfish as a team collected seven aces as Forbes and Rohn each had two as well.

The Sailfish opened up a big lead early in the first, turning a 5-5 set into a 12-5 lead. In that run the ‘Fish had five of their 14 kills of the set as Ballantyne collected three. PBA had to rally in the second after training 14-12 they scored five straight but had to hold off the Panthers late as FIT took a late 22-21 lead. Two errors from the Panthers and a kill by Rohn had the ‘Fish at set point, 24-22 but it took two more points before Emma Ballantyne finished things off, 25-23.

PBA scored the first five points of the third set and led 14-2 as the Sailfish racked up seven kills including five from Palkert. The lead eventually grew to 23-9 before the ‘Fish finished things off 25-12.

Coach Bob White and his team return home to close out the regular season on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19. The Sailfish will take on Tampa on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting Saint Leo on Saturday at 4 p.m.
