Men's Soccer Fall To No. 18 In Latest NSCAA Top-25

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Following a 2-0 defeat by the University of Tampa in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Nov. 4, Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team dropped in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, Tuesday. The ‘Fish, who were sitting at No. 11 in last week’s poll, now sit at No. 18 in the final NSCAA Top-25 poll of the regular season. Despite the drop, this is the sixth consecutive week the Sailfish have been represented in the NSCAA Top-25 poll.
Despite the SSC Tournament loss, the Sailfish earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Region bracket of the NCAA Championships. The South Region is an SSC dominated bracket, as all four spots were snagged by SSC teams. No. 1 went to the Lynn Fighting Knights after winning the SSC Tournament Championship in penalty kicks over Tampa, and now sit No. 4 nationally. Florida Tech, despite the SSC first round defeat to Eckerd, sits No. 3 in the South Region and No. 24 nationally, and will take on the Sailfish in the NCAA Second Round this weekend. Tampa snuck in to the No. 4 seed in the South Region tournament after their SSC Tournament push and will face off again against the Fighting Knights in the NCAA Second Round. Tampa jumped up to No. 14 nationally after not being ranked last week.
The Sailfish return to action Sunday, No. 13 at 4 p.m. as they take on the No. 24 Florida Tech Panthers. The winner will advance to the South Region championship, taking on the winner of Lynn and Tampa; at the Southeast Region host site.
