INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second consecutive year, Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team has earned their way into the NCAA postseason as the ‘Fish were awarded the No. 2 seed in the 2016 NCAA South Region Tournament Monday night.
Following the upset loss last Friday night to unranked Tampa, the Sailfish finished their 2016 regular season with a 12-4-1 overall record.
The Sailfish will face off against the Florida Institute of Technology, who earned the No. 3 seed in the south region. The Panthers will travel from Melbourne, Fla. to the Rinker Athletic Campus this Sunday, at 4 p.m. for the second round matchup.
The Panthers finished third in the Sunshine State Conference regular season, with a first-round defeat in the SSC tournament at the hands of the Eckerd College Tritons. The Panther and Sailfish last faced off on Sept. 28, and the ‘Fish won 2-1 in overtime courtesy of the Michael O’Sullivan header in the 92nd minute of play.
The winner of Sunday’s match will move on to the Round of 16, which will be held the following weekend at campus sites. The winner will face off against the winner of the second round match between Lynn University and the University of Tampa, who were named the No. 1 and 4 seeds respectively.
