LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the fourth straight week the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team is ranked No. 12 by the AVCA as the top 13 teams stayed the same from a week ago. The Sailfish have won a school-record 23 straight and hold the second longest streak currently in D2.
PBA knocked off Rollins College 3-1 on Friday night to break the school record with their 22nd straight win. The streak bests that of the 2012 and 1998 teams that reached 21 in a row. On Saturday the ‘Fish swept Embry-Riddle for No. 23 and improved to 23-3 on the season.
The only team ahead of the ‘Fish to lose during the week was No. 2 Minnesota Duluth who lost to top-ranked Concordia-St. Paul. Both teams stayed at No. 1 and No. 2 after their five set thriller. Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Minnesota State and Wheeling Jesuit remain in the top five.
The Sailfish are joined by Tampa as the only schools in the region to be ranked as the Spartans moved up from No. 23 to 22 this week. North Alabama is on the cusp of entering the poll as the first team listed in the receiving votes category. Florida Southern and Saint Leo are also receiving votes.
PBA hosts Nova Southeastern on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a rematch of a five-setter early this year. The Sailfish won that matchup after losing the first two sets.
