Ragland and Coutinho Named PBA Student-Athletes of the Month for October

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic’s sports information staff has named junior Sarah Ragland and senior Lucas Coutinho the Student-Athletes of the Month for October. Ragland led the volleyball team to an 11-0 record in the month while Coutinho led men’s soccer to a 6-1 mark.
Ragland (Jacksonville, Fla.) leads all of NCAA Division II in blocks per set at 1.80 after collecting 79 total blocks in October. That averages out to 1.93 per set in the 41 sets played while also adding 108 kills and hitting at a .315 clip. For the season she’s hitting .302 with 242 kills and 172 total blocks.
Coutinho (Recife, Brazil) currently leads the team with 10 assists and is second with 16 points. He’s scored three goals on the season including two during the month. The midfielder had four assists during the month as the Sailfish finished as the top seed in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
The volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday as they host Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. Men’s soccer will find out there NCAA postseason fate today at 6:30 p.m. as the region tournament field is announced. The team will host a watch party in the Greene lobby beginning at 6:15 p.m.
