Sailfish Keep Streak Alive, Win Record-Setting 22nd Straight Match

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 12 Palm Beach Atlantic ran their winning streak to unprecendented heights, winning their 22nd straight match on Friday night, 3-1 over Rollins College. The Sailfish are now 22-3 on the season while the Tars fall to 10-14.
The ‘Fish were led by Ally Rohn’s 18 kills but struggled to just a .150 attack percentage. Rollins had even more issues, hitting .059 in the match and a negative percentage in the second set. The Sailfish had their best attacking percentage in the second set, hitting .200. They tallied 16 kills in each of the first and third sets but nine errors in the third proved costly.
The Sailfish fought off the Tars in a close first set winning 25-21 and then cruised through the second 25-23. PBA was two points away from taking the match when Rollins closed the third on a 5-0 run to take the set 25-23. In the fourth the ‘Fish battled through a slow start, trailing 6-1 before a timeout to come back and win 25-22.
Olivia Finckel added 11 kills for PBA while Emma Ballantyne collected 10. Molly Burkhardt led the way with 37 assists and also added 19 digs and two blocks. The Sailfish defense put up 99 digs in the match led by Susie Forbes’ 25. Rohn was also in double figures with 19 as Katie Ballantyne added 13 and Lauren Alberti tallied 10.
The ‘Fish are back in action on Saturday as they host Embry-Riddle at 4 p.m. inside Rubin Arena where they’ve won 26 straight home matches.
