WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in their first-ever Sunshine State Conference tournament match fell in the semi-finals to the fourth-seeded Tampa Spartans 2-0 at the Rinker Athletic Campus Friday night.
The Sailfish offense were shut out for just the third time this season, despite putting up 12 shots on the night.
The Blue and White looked to be in control the entire first half, outshooting the Spartans eight shots to three. Unfortunately for the ‘Fish they were unable to capitalize on any of their chances, but an early goal inside a congested Sailfish box put the Spartans up 1-0 less than seven minutes into the game.
The second half fared no better for the Sailfish as the momentum continued in the favor of the Spartans, as Tampa outshot Palm Beach Atlantic nine shots to four. Tampa added the finishing touch on the game in the 77th minute putting them up 2-0 over the ‘Fish, crushing any Sailfish hopes of an equalizer.
Charlie Dennis lead the way on offense for the ‘Fish with three shots on the night, Michael O'Sullivan, Farias Juarez, Lucas Coutinho, and Eddy Milien each added a pair of shots as well.
Despite the loss, Elliott Barker tied his career-high in saves on the evening with five, bringing the freshman to 41 on the year.
