Rohn and Ballantyne Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball had two named to the Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Senior Emma Ballantyne made the team for the second straight year while Ally Rohn was selected in her first year eligible.
A journalism major, Rohn currently leads the team in kills with 322 and kills per set at 3.58. She also leads the ‘Fish with 22 service aces and is second with 285 digs and 56 assists. The sophomore from Cedar Lake, Ind. is in her first year of eligibility for the award.
Ballantyne is honored for the second straight year, having been selected to the All-District in 2015 as well. The Oviedo, Fla. native and medicinal and biological chemistry major currently ranks fourth on the team with 166 kills and 1.84 kills per set. She’s second in blocks with 73 and also has 65 digs and 15 service aces.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.30 cumulative GPA and have attended their current university for one calendar year.
As All-District selections, both Rohn and Ballantyne will be eligible to be selected as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. That award is scheduled to be released on Dec. 7.
The Sailfish are 21-3, riding a 21-match winning streak as they will host Rollins College on Friday at 7 p.m. Emma and her sister Katie will be honored before the match as the lone seniors on this year’s team.
