LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the third straight week the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team is ranked No. 12 by the AVCA. The Sailfish have been ranked in 35 straight polls dating back to the 2014 season.
PBA picked up three more wins last week to run their winning streak to 21, tying a school record. The ‘Fish started the week with a home win over Barry, taking down the Bucs in four sets. The Sailfish hit the road on the weekend and defeated then-No. 24 Florida Southern 3-1 before sweeping Eckerd for the second time this season.
PBA’s win over Florida Southern coupled with their loss earlier in the week to Saint Leo took the Mocs out of the poll for the first time this season. They are currently the top team in the receiving votes category. Tampa is the only other school in the South Region to be in the top-25, holding at No. 23. North Alabama, West Florida and Saint Leo all join FSC in the receiving votes section.
Concordia-St. Paul retakes the top spot this week, up from the third position last week. Minnesota Duluth falls a spot to No. 2 with Nebraska-Kearney moving up a spot to No. 3. Southwest Minnesota State had the biggest drop of anyone in the top 20, falling two spots to No. 4. The fifth through 12 spots remained the same from last week.
The Sailfish close out the regular season with six of their final seven matches inside Rubin Arena. The first of those six comes on Friday night as the ‘Fish welcome Rollins College for a 7 p.m. match. Seniors Emma and Katie Ballantyne will be honored before the match.
