Early Goal Not Enough as Sailfish Fall 2-1 to Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer lost another closely contested match against No. 12 Rollins College Wednesday evening, falling by a 2-1 final score. Rollins scored the game winner in the second half, improving to 9-1-3 on the season and staying unbeaten in Sunshine State Conference play. The loss drops the Sailfish to 4-8-1 on the season and 1-5-1 in the conference.
Karina White put the Sailfish on the scoreboard first as her shot found the back of the net in the 13th minute. The goal was White’s second of the season and the eighth of her career at PBA. The Sailfish held onto the 1-0 advantage until the 32nd minute when Kat Weiss headed a ball past Sailfish goalkeeper Isabelle Granlund to tie the match a one goal apiece. Granlund made five saves in the first half as the match went into halftime tied at one.
The second half was controlled by the Tars, as Rollins outshot the Sailfish 10-2 and scored the game winner in the 68th minute, which came from Paxton Sickler. Granlund finished the match with eight saves, as the junior played well again in goal.
The Sailfish will not have much time to recover for their next match, as they will travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face off against Florida Southern College on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
