LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team held their ground at No. 12 in the latest AVCA Top-25 released on Monday. The Sailfish have won 18-straight matches, currently the second longest streak in NCAA Division II.
PBA (18-3) won three matches on the week, defeating Lynn and Saint Leo by the same score of 3-0 before needing four sets to knock off then-No. 20 Tampa. The win over the Spartans is the first in program history in Tampa.
Tampa fell to No. 23 in the poll, just one spot ahead of Florida Southern who moved up one position this week. West Florida and North Alabama are other members of the region currently receiving votes but outside the top 25.
Minnesota Duluth suffered their first loss of the season but remained No. 1 in the poll, holding a slight edge over Southwest Minnesota State who remained in second. Duluth has 1,169 points and 29 first-place votes while Southwest holds 1,150 points and 16 first-place votes. The three through six spots remain the same with Concordia-St. Paul, Nebraska-Kearney, Wheeling Jesuit and Winona State holding ground. Augustana (SD), Wayne State (Neb.), Central Oklahoma and Angelo State round out the top-10. Alaska-Anchorage falls outside the top-10 to No. 11 after losing to Western Washington.
The Sailfish return to Rubin Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 25 to host the Buccaneers from Barry University at 7 p.m. on Pink Night. PBA hits the road this weekend, traveling to Florida Southern and Eckerd.
