Sailfish Attack Thwarted By Bucs, Fall 2-0

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic had it’s winning streak snap Saturday night at the hands of the Barry Buccaneers. Despite several attempts throughout the 90 minutes of play, the Sailfish were shut out in a loss for the first time since Oct. 14, 2014.
The Sailfish scattered nine shots in the opening half and five shots in the second half, but all attempts were without success. Of the 14 attempts, several were offensive miscues from the Sailfish as they failed to capitalize on multiple two-on-one opportunities.
The Bucs scored both of their goals in the second half, courtesy of a penalty kick in the 57th minute, and a congested goal inside the box in the 72nd minute.
Lucas Coutinho led the offensive attack for the Sailfish with four shots on the night, with two of them on goal. Coutinho was followed by Juan Pablo Puelma with three, and Jerry Saint-Vil and Charlie Dennis with two of their own.
Elliott Barker (L, 9-1-1) picked up two saves on the night, while his Buccaneer counterpart Michael Scheraldi picked up five.
With the loss, the Sailfish drop to 10-3-1 on the year, and currently sit in second place in the Sunshine State Conference with a SSC record of 5-1-1. With two SSC matches left to play, the ‘Fish control their own destiny as they take on the University of Tampa on the road Wednesday, Oct. 26, and return to the Rinker Athletic Campus Oct. 29 to host Saint Leo University.
