‘Fish Defeat Tritons 4-2 For Sixth Straight Win

St. Petersburg, Fla.- After taking a week off from games due to Hurricane Matthew, the No. 25 Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish got right back to business Sunday evening, defeating the Eckerd College Tritons 4-2. With the win, the Sailfish now sit at 8-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. Four different Sailfish found themselves scoring Sunday night, while Lucas Coutinho picked up two assists.

Junior Kebba Nyang got the party started early for the Sailfish, picking up his fifth goal of the season in the eighth minute of the match. Jerry Saint-Vil sent in a cross from the left side that Nyang finished to put the ‘Fish out to the early lead.

The lead did not hold for long, as Eckerd’s Juan David Tejada equalized things in the 17th minute of play.

The Sailfish regained the lead in the 27th minute as Farias Juarez picked up his first goal of the 2016 campaign, scoring on a give-and-go in the box from Coutinho. The 2-1 PBA lead held for four minutes, as Tejada scored his second equalizer of the match in the 31st minute, bringing things to a 2-2 score, the final score of the first half.

The second half was all Sailfish, as the ‘Fish scored in the 64th minute to break the tie, and again in the 76th minute for the insurance goal. Lucas Kuscevic put the Sailfish out in front, scoring his third goal of the season, while the insurance goal came courtesy of Cleef Desir, his first goal of the season. The Desir goal was Coutinho’s second assist of the match, his team-leading eighth on the year.

Elliott Barker (7-0-1) made five saves on the evening, one coming in the first half and four in the second half, bringing the freshman to 21 saves on the year.

PBA out-shot the Tritons 25-11 on the match, while also taking nine corner kicks to their one.

Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action Wednesday night, Oct. 12 as they host Rollins College with a scheduled kickoff of 7 p.m.
