WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd played to a 0-0 draw Sunday night, as neither team was able to get much going offensively, combining for only 12 shots on goal. The Sailfish (4-4-1, 1-2-1 SSC) tallied 28 total shots on the night, but only 7 were on target, and all saved by Casey Winn for the Tritons. Eckerd College (5-6-2, 1-2-2 SSC) only totaled 11 shots, many of which came late in the match.
The Sailfish had a good chance to score early in the first half, as a Bridget Wollrabe shot was just wide in the 2nd minute. The Tritons went without a shot on goal in the first half.
Possession in the second half was dominated by the Sailfish, as they tallied 13 shots to 3 Eckerd shots. The first Triton shot on goal was a scary one for the ‘Fish, as Isabelle Granlund was forced to make a diving save on the attempt by Sydney Tiiman. Granlund finished the night a perfect five for five on save chances, completing her third shutout of the season.
The ‘Fish had one great chance in overtime to win it, as a long ball was played ahead to junior Morgan Campbell, who’s shot banged off the crossbar and out of play.
The Sailfish will have a week off before playing Florida Tech on Oct. 17 in Melbourne, Fla. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.
