WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team dropped to .500 on the season Saturday night, losing to No. 18 ranked Nova Southeastern University by a 4-1 final. The loss drops the ‘Fish to 4-4 and 1-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. NSU is now 8-1-1 on the season.
The match got off to a rough start for the Sailfish as NSU put two goals in the net during the first four minutes of play. The first goal came from Hannah Christophe, who finished the night with a hat-trick. The Sailfish had a couple great scoring chances of their own in the first half, as two Shannon Berg free kicks banged off the crossbar and out of play. The Sharks added a third goal late in the first half to take a commanding lead into halftime despite being out-shot 12-10 by the ‘Fish.
The second half was evenly played, as the teams finished the match with 18 shots apiece. Claire Allen scored her first goal for the Sailfish in the 68th minute, as she beat a couple Shark defenders and blasted a shot to the top corner of the net past a leaping Shark goalkeeper.
Sailfish goalkeeper Isabelle Granlund (3-2-0) finished the night with five saves as two Shark goalkeepers combined for six saves on the evening.
