'Fish Finish 7th at FLRunners.com Invitational

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s cross country turned in a seventh place finish at the FLRunners.com Invitational on Friday evening. The Sailfish rested some of their top runners after also racing last Saturday.
Freshman Madison Troyer turned in a 19th place finish and a time of 21:05 on the 5K course to pace the team. For Troyer it was a 35 second improvement from a week ago in just her second race with the team. Sophia Miller finished 25th, running in a time of 21:32 which was an 18 second improvement from a week ago.
Deja Davis from Bethune-Cookman turned in the top time of the evening, 18:49, as the Wildcats scored 32 points to win the team title. PBA finished with 157 points.
The Sailfish had seven freshmen compete in the race with four of them finishing close together. Hope Kanagy led the pack in a time of 22:26 (36th place) and was followed by Rhian Romanik (22:39 – 41st), Makayla Richardson (23:13 – 44th) and Jessica Lykins (23:32 – 46th). Melanie Begel (27:10 – 72nd) and Libbie Lyster (29:50 – 75th) also competed in the race.
PBA will return to full strength on Oct. 8 as they race in the Saint Leo Invitational. The race is being held at the Abbey Course, the site of this year’s NCAA South Regional and NCAA National Championship meets.
