Men's Tennis Wraps Up Play at ITA Regional

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Sailfish men’s tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Regional Tournament over the weekend, hosted by Florida Southern.

The Sailfish had three singles players win their opening match along with the doubles duo of Pietro de Silva and Thomas Salmon. Both de Silva and Salmon advanced to the second round in singles play along with Philipp Hoffmann.

De Silva and Salmon won their opening match in doubles play 9-7 over Eddie Lewis and Will Stone from Eckerd College. The ‘Fish tandem were knocked off in the second round by eventual runners-up Sami Kirberg and Patrick Sell from Rollins who entered the tournament seeded fifth.

In singles play Salmon and Hoffmann were victors in straight sets while de Silva won in three. Rafael Lenz advanced to the consolation quarterfinals after losing his opening match.

The Sailfish are back in action on Oct. 7-9 at the C.L. Varner Invitational hosted by Rollins College.
