'Fish Knock Off No. 10 Washburn, Sweep Bridgeport on Saturday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball wrapped up the Bash at the Beach with a pair of wins on Saturday, running their weekend record to a perfect 4-0 and improving on the season to 4-3.
The Sailfish played their second straight ranked team in the first match Saturday, defeating No. 10 Washburn in five tough sets before earning their third sweep of the weekend against Bridgeport in the finale.
PBA will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Barry University for a 7 p.m. first serve in the first match against a Sunshine State Conference team. The ‘Fish return home to play two next Saturday, first against Lynn University at 1 p.m. followed by a match with Flagler at 7 p.m.
After the tournament Ally Rohn and Molly Burkhardt were named to the all-tournament team along with Brooke Wilsman (Lee University), Stephanie Sikorski (Ferris State), Katie Placek (Ferris State), Arela Williams (McKendree University), Sarah Vicory (Washburn University), Alyssa Carney (Washburn University).

It was a five-set thriller in the afternoon session inside Rubin Arena as the Sailfish came from down a set to take the fourth 25-21 before holding off the Ichabods 15-11 in the fifth. Susie Forbes dug up 31 balls in the match as Molly Burkhardt dished out 48 assists.
The Sailfish took the first set 25-22 before falling in the next two by the same score of 25-19. Ally Rohn collected 16 kills for PBA while Sarah Ragland and Sophie Hoekstra were both in double digits with 11 and 10. Ragland had nine blocks as the team produced 15.5 total blocks. Washburn had 15 blocks of their own. Hoekstra also had four blocks as did Rohn. Emma Ballantyne added five blocks and nine kills.
Rohn added 16 digs on defense as Abby DeVido collected 10. Amy Schatzmann had nine digs. The Sailfish hit .187 for the match but hit .326 in the first set and .412 in the fifth. Washburn hit .197 in the match and were only over .200 in the first set when they hit .286. Kelsey Barrick led the Ichabods with 19 kills.

PBA got off to a fast start in sets one and two before coming from behind in set three to pick up their third sweep of the weekend, 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 over the Purple Knights.
Sarah Ragland led the way with 11 kills and a .500 attack percentage as the Sailfish hit .299 for the match. PBA collected 16 of their 40 kills in the second set alone. Ragland added three blocks. Ally Rohn led the defense with 13 digs and added eight kills. Emma Ballantyne collected six blocks and added four kills. Molly Burkhardt added in 29 assists and four digs.
