DAHLONEGA, Ga.- Five second-half goals tell the story of Saturday afternoon’s Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer loss, as the No. 5 Sailfish fell to the University of North Georgia Nighthawks 3-2 at the UNG Soccer Complex.
The Sailfish, playing their second game in as many days, were unable to get the offense going in the first half as neither team were able to find the back of the net in the opening forty-five minutes. Both teams took seven shots in the opening half with Charlie Dennis and Lucas Coutinho leading the way with two shots a piece.
The Nighthawks struck first in the 47th minute as UNG’s Ivan Acimovic scored on a header inside the box, but the Sailfish would tie things up in the 56th minute on a Coutinho penalty kick, his first goal of the season.
North Georgia regained their lead in the 60th minute when midfielder Matt Shaftoe curved a shot just past the outreached arms of Cortes to lead 2-1.
The ‘Fish tied things up again in the 64th minute as Dennis scored his second goal of the season, courtesy of an assist from Coutinho.
North Georgia took their third and final lead of the match in the 86th minute on a header from Kevin Glendon.
The Sailfish (1-1) head back to south Florida as they take on defending NCAA National Champions Pfeiffer University on Friday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at Bobby Campbell Stadium on the campus of Lynn University.
