Rickenbach Leads 'Fish in Boca

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Cami Rickenbach led the Sailfish in her first collegiate meet as Palm Beach Atlantic finished 2nd out of D2 schools at the FAU Invitational at the South County Regional Park.

Rickenbach was the top D2 runner in a mixed field of D1 and D2 schools, placing 8th overall with a time of 19:25. She finished 16 seconds ahead of the next D2 runner. The University of Miami’s Gabrielle Hesslau was the overall winner with a time of 18:35.

Also running in her first meet for PBA was graduate transfer Sara-Caitrin Mandelburg who placed 12th overall and 3rd out of D2 runners with a time of 19:47. Sophia Miller was the third PBA runner to cross the line at the 5K course, turning in a time of 21:41. She was the 21st runner overall and the 7th of D2 runners.

The Sailfish were edged out by Nova Southeastern for the top spot among D2 runners as the Sharks earned 28 points and the Sailfish claimed 35. Lynn took third with 67 points. FAU nipped Florida Gulf Coast 38-39 in the D1 portion.

Alyssa Hearing and Elise Combs also scored on the night for PBA with times of 22:12 and 22:14, placing 40th and 41st overall.

The Sailfish will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Florida Tech Invitational.
