'Fish Knocked Off in Season Opener

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – No. 3 Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball couldn’t overcome the host No. 18 Flyers from Lewis University in the season opener, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-13).

The Sailfish started three newcomers in the first match of the season but it was a veteran who led them offensively. Sophomore Ally Rohn turned in seven kills on the night to lead the ‘Fish offense that struggled throughout the match. The team only had 11 kills outside of Rohn. The Flyers piled up 7. 5 total blocks on the night led by Loyce Balash who had one solo and three assisted.

PBA turned in a .041 attack percentage on the night while Lewis came in at a .275 clip. Sarah Ragland added three kills for the ‘Fish and led the team with four block assists. Molly Burkhardt added seven assists and eight digs for PBA while Susie Forbes led the way with 14 digs.

It will be a quick turnaround as the ‘Fish return to the floor on Friday at 12:30 pm central time to face No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State before closing out the day against Augustana (S.D.) who is receiving votes in the top-25 poll – at 5:30 p.m. central.
