Men's Basketball Adds Five to the 2016-2017 Squad

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic head basketball coach David Balza has officially added five newcomers to the Sailfish Squad, adding three freshman and two transfers.
David Cruz- This freshman played his final two years of high school basketball at Atlantic Christian where the 6’1 guard averaged 16.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
He was a two-sport star in high school, competing on the track an field team in the long jump, high jump, and the 4x400 relays. Cruz was also named the Atlantic Christian Athlete of the Year his senior year.
A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., Cruz is majoring in Nursing and is the son of Gloria Siew and Pablo Cruz.
De’Ondre Jackson- This freshman led Campbell County HS to the Kentucky State Sweet 16 tournament where the 6’4 forward averaged 21 points, 4.6bounds, 4.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Jackson was named to both the All District First Team and All-Region First Team his last two years of high school.
A native of Alexandria, Ky., Jackson is majoring in Business Management and is the son of Michelle Grove.
Mathew Johnson- This freshman played high school basketball at Pines Charter High School where he averaged 14.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
Johnson was named Second Team All-Broward Country as a senior, and was an honorable mention for All-County as a junior.
A native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Johnson is majoring in Business Management, and is the son of Kamilla and Gabriel.
Grant Gullett- The junior transfers in from Hesston Community College in Kansas where he averaged 2 points and 1 rebound while shooting 73 percent from field in helping Howard CC to a 24-8 record.
Before Hesston, Gullett played at Stony Point high school in Texas, where he was named to the 5A All-District teams.
A native of Pfugerville, Texas, Gullett is majoring in Educaion, and is the son of Erica Gullett.
Michael Stones- Transfers in from NCAA Division I Dartmouth where he spent his freshman year.
Before Dartmouth, Stones played at Windermere Prep where he was named to the First Team All District in back to back years. Graduated from Windermere Prep’s all-time leader in scoring with 1,912 points and assists with 513.
A native of Windermere, Fla., Stones is majoring in Business Marketing and is the son of Marilou and Fred Stones.
