WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Former Sailfish women’s soccer standout Kasey Wyer began her professional soccer career this summer in Iceland, as she signed with Tindestóll, which is located in Sauðárkrókur. Wyer has played in six matches so far for Tindestóll and has scored four goals. They are currently in first place in Group C of the women’s Division 1 Cup with a 6-1-1 record.
“My experience has been amazing,” Wyer said. “I have had the opportunity to play the sport I love in a foreign country, meet new faces, and experience new exciting things every day.”
Wyer finished her PBA career in 2015 with 26 goals and 24 assists. She was named to the NSCAA All-South Region Second Team twice during her four-year career with the Sailfish. Her 2015 season was cut short due to injury, but not before she tallied nine goals in 11 games.
“I’m proud of Kasey’s ability to return from the injury. She has worked so hard to get back on the field,” Palm Beach Atlantic head coach Chris Gnehm said. “She will go down as one of the best of all time to wear a PBA jersey and it’s exciting to see her represent PBA in Iceland.”
Former Sailfish assistant coach Jesse Shugg is also on the team with Wyer. Shugg, who played her college soccer at Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami before coming to PBA as an assistant coach, is also having a great season, as she has scored nine goals in her five games played.
Palm Beach Atlantic will open up their 2016 campaign on Sept. 1 as they host the PBA Kickoff Classic and will face off against Spring Hill College at 7 p.m.
