TAMPA, Fla. – After being named to the Premier Development League (PDL) All-Southern Conference team on July 29, Sailfish senior Lucas Coutinho adds more accolades to his impressive tenure as he was named to the 2016 PDL All-League Team Wednesday afternoon.

Coutinho – who helped lead the Sailfish to their first NCAA South Region championship in 2015 – was the driving force behind the South Florida Surf’s run to a 2016 PDL Playoffs berth. The senior made 13 appearances in the Southeast Division, and he led the Surd in assists with five on the year. The Midfielder also scored three goals of his own for 11 points on the season. The Surf finished second in the Southeast Division with 28 points.

The Recife, Brazil native is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the PDL after rising in the rankings throughout the summer. The PDL is the top-level of amateur soccer in the United States and a proving ground for the best collegiate players.

Coutinho will return to West Palm Beach to help the Sailfish defend their NCAA South regional title. The regular season gets started on Sept. 1 against Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga. at 7 p.m. The Blue and White open their home campaign against cross-county rivals Lynn University on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
