WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer coach Brian McMahon was recently featured in a series of three instructional videos produced by Championship Productions. The trio of videos focus on three different areas of the game and are titled: Switching the Point of Attack, Small-Sided Transition Games Progressing to Goal and Combination Play.

The videos come on the heels of Coach Mac leading the Sailfish to their first South Region title in 2015 and securing a team record 17 wins. In just his second year at PBA, the Sailfish had seven all-Americans as McMahon was named the 2015 NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year as well as the 2016 Palm Beach County Sports Commission Coach of the Year.

“Coach McMahon was recommended to us by some of the best coaches in the country,” said Championship Productions’ Coaching Education Director, Thom McDonald. “The three videos he did were in three areas that our customers have been wanting for years. They’re extremely well done on the field with players and include detailed descriptions of all the drills in a classroom setting too. We’re extremely excited to have Coach McMahon as one of our soccer authors. With his success on the field and his teaching methods, these are videos that can be utilized at any level of skill.”

The first video, Switching the Point of Attack, focuses on helping players move the ball quickly in possession, then switch the attack to open up space. Coach McMahon covers playing the ball quickly on the ground and across the field to create a numbers advantage, as well as how to keep moving the ball to isolate defenders in one-on-one situations.

The second video, Small-Sided Transition Games Progressing to Goal, covers small-sided games that train teams to quickly switch into attacking or defensive transition. Technical exercises for developing quick combinations and ball circulation are addressed in addition to helping players master timing and runs off the ball.

The third video, Combination Play and Finishing Exercises on Goal, contains shooting exercises that help players use combinations to get a shot off in front of the net. Success in combination play is covered in-depth, as Coach McMahon shows how to teach players to make good decisions when attacking with numbers up.

The videos can be found on the Championship Productions website, here.
