Uryson Named First ITA Men's Tennis All-American in Program History

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –Nicolas Uryson added to his impressive resume this week, becoming the first men’s tennis player in school history to be named All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Uryson was ranked No. 14 in the final Oracle/ITA national ranking after reaching No. 7 earlier in the year. He went 13-4 at the top of the singles lineup, turning in three wins over national ranked opponents. He’s finished his final season ranked No. 8 in the South Region in addition to his national ranking.
In doubles play he finished ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 6 in the region with partner Hendrik Burmeister. That duo was 14-4 on the season with a pair of victories over nationally ranked foes
In may he was honored by the ITA as the association announced their regional and national awards during the 2016 Division II NCAA Tennis Championships in Denver, Colo. Uryson was named the National Most Improved Player, the South Region Most Improved Player and the South Region Senior Player of the Year.
The Sailfish finished the year 10-9 overall and ranked No. 48 in the country and No. 10 in the region.
