Uryson Takes Home Trio of ITA Awards

Tempe, Ariz. – Palm Beach Atlantic’s Nicolas Uryson was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Thursday as the association announced their regional and national awards during the 2016 Division II NCAA Tennis Championships in Denver, Colo.

Uryson was named the National Most Improved Player, the South Region Most Improved Player and the South Region Senior Player of the Year.

The Argentinian went 13-4 at the top of the singles lineup, turning in three wins over national ranked opponents. He’s currently ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 4 in the South Region with the final rankings set to come out on June 1.

In doubles play he’s ranked No. 19 nationally and No. 6 in the region with partner Hendrik Burmeister. That duo was 14-4 on the season with a pair of victories over nationally ranked foes.

The Sailfish finished the year 10-9 overall and are currently ranked No. 34 in the country and No. 8 in the region.
