WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Senior Amber Johnson and junior Kayla Knight were both named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District softball team on Thursday.

Johnson is the school’s career leader in saves and closed out her four-year career with a 1.96 ERA in 110.2 innings. She posted a 15-1 record this season with seven complete games and added five saves. She will graduate this week with a 4.00 GPA in Bio-pre health prep.

Knight was the team’s leading hitter, batting .413 with 38 runs scored and 62 hits. Her four triples led the team as did her .516 on-base percentage. She stole 11 bases on the season and drove in 16. The Wauchula, Fla. native is majoring in exercise science.

Only first teams were chosen for both the baseball and softball district teams, so all honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must hold a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore with one year at their current institution.
