WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced their latest South Region rankings for tennis, and there is good news for the Sailfish as the team remains in eighth place in the region. The No. 35 ranked Sailfish have had a tough road recently, playing against some of the best teams in the country.
Senior Nicolas Uryson leaped up in the Singles rankings, as he rises from eighth in last month’s poll to fourth in Wednesday’s. This is the highest ranking for Uryson this season and he will likely rise up from his No. 16 national ranking next week when the national rankings are released.
Also getting ranked for the first time this spring is a doubles team for Palm Beach Atlantic. Uryson is joined by Hendrik Burmeister for No. 1 Doubles for the Sailfish, and the duo is now ranked the No. 6 doubles team in the South Region.
The Sailfish are clinging to hopes of making the NCAA Tournament as they travel to St. Leo, Fla. Saturday to take on No. 2 ranked Saint Leo University. The Sailfish then return to the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center and host Florida Tech on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m. Coach Chi Ly and the rest of the Sailfish will honor their senior class on Sunday, which is comprised of Fernando Arroyo, Asti Adams, Nicolas Uryson, and Nicholas Battistini.
