Sailfish Shutout by Eagles

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 35 Sailfish men’s tennis team was shutout Thursday evening by No. 6 Embry-Riddle University. The loss marks the third consecutive loss for the ‘Fish, and makes the road to regionals much tougher for the Sailfish. PBA now sits at 10-7 on the season, while Embry-Riddle improves to 11-2.
The Eagles dominated doubles play, winning all three matches over the Sailfish. Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister were defeated by No. 13 ranked Deni Zmak and Juan Ortiz Couder 8-4. Nicholas Battistini and Fernando Arroyo had the closest doubles match, as they lost 8-5.
No. 16 Uryson, took No. 6 Zmak to three sets in singles play on the afternoon, but fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Pietro de Silva tried to get the ‘Fish in the win column on the day at No. 5 singles, but fell in a thriller 6-1, 2-6, 14-12.
The Sailfish are off for over a week before heading to St. Leo, Fla. next Saturday to take on No. 2 ranked Saint Leo University.
