Sailfish Sweep Tritons 9-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The PBA women’s tennis team swept Eckerd College Thursday afternoon, defeating the Tritons 9-0 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. The win improves the ‘Fish to 8-6 on the season.

PBA got the match started off on a high note with three wins in doubles play. Valerie Nagovitcina and Maja Jovic, playing at No. 1 doubles today, won 8-2. Kathi Tesar and Taylor Conti won their match by an 8-0 score. Teona Tatishvili and Michaela Mignemi completed the doubles sweep, winning their match 8-1.

The Sailfish also cruised through singles play, winning every match in straight sets. Tesar and Nagovitcina, playing No. 1 and 2 singles, both won their matches 6-0, 6-1. Tatishvili defeated her Triton opponent 6-1, 6-1. Playing just a pro-set, Conti and Mignemi won their matches 8-0. At No. 6 singles, Dezi Bowman won her second consecutive match, this one by an 8-1 score.

The Sailfish have little rest, as they return to the Rinker Athletic Campus Saturday to take on another Sunshine State Conference opponent in Florida Southern College. First serve will be upon completion of the men’s match which begins at 10 a.m.
