MARION, Ind.- In what has been rather easy work thus far for the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team, the Lady Sailfish continued their march through the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) tennis championships on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over Cedarville University.
Nailing down victories in all three of their matches in pool play, each by an identical 5-1 margin, the Sailfish will now move into the semi-finals of the tournament with a 6 pm match slated to be against Olivet Nazarene University.
Against Cedarville, the doubles pairings established a solid momentum with victories at number one and two, highlighted by an 8-1 victory at number two by partners Montse Ripoll and Katie Livesay. Freshman Lina Rubiano and sophomore captain Natalie Aleman produced an 8-4 victory at number one doubles to get things started.
Singles proved to be easy work for the Fish as Ripoll advanced easily with a 6-2, 6-1 victory followed by perfect sets from Rubiano and Aleman at 6-0, 6-0 in number two and three singles respectively.
