Sailfish Defeat West Liberty 8-1

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 31 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team defeated West Liberty University by an 8-1 final Saturday morning, winning their third consecutive match as they improve to 5-2 on the season. No. 50 West Liberty University drops to 3-1 on the season.

The Sailfish swept doubles play on Saturday, as Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister went the distance in their match, as they defeated the No. 12 ranked doubles team of Andrew Ponder and Santiago Gutierrez 9-8 (9-7). Asti Adams and Nicholas Battistini won their doubles match 8-6, as the team of Thomas Salmon/Pietro de Silva won 8-1.

No. 17 ranked Uryson defeated No. 24 ranked Perrin in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-4. Burmeister took three sets to win his match, as he defeated Gutierrez 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Battistini, Salmon, and Feofilov all won their singles matches, as the ‘Fish completed their 8-1 victory.

The Sailfish now set their sights on California, as they will travel there tomorrow, and prepare for a five match week, beginning with Concordia University on Mar. 7.
