Polaski Tames Lions, 'Fish Win 6-2 in Game One

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Kyle Polaski picked up his fourth win of the season as the Sailfish defeated Saint Leo 6-2 in game one of a three-game weekend series. The ‘Fish and Lions will close out the series on Saturday at noon with a pair of nine-inning contests.
Polaski (4-1) went a season-high 6.2 innings allowing just two runs and striking out three to pick up his third straight win. The righty had the help of his defense as the infield turned double plays to end the first, third and sixth innings. Polaski threw just 77 pitches but left with runners at first and second.
David Paul was summoned from the bullpen and the sophomore picked off Shane Williams at second to end the inning. Paul pitched the eighth allowing just one hit. Dominic Monda struck one a batter in a perfect ninth to seal the victory.
Peter Rivera blasted his third homer of the season to left in the first inning off of Andrew Cohen to get the Sailfish on the board. Sean Visconti singled earlier in the inning and scored on the bomb. Rivera added an RBI triple in the sixth to again score Visconti. Rivera later scored on a single by Kyle Simon.
Also in the sixth Andrew Calderone added an RBI single to score Simon. The Sailfish left two runners on base in the inning and also had a runner picked off second. PBA left seven men on base in the game.
PBA had contributions from everyone on the night as seven different players picked up a hit in the game led by Rivera’s two. Jake Summey also drove in a run in the fifth with a single to right.
