Sailfish Reach 10 Wins in Win Over Lynn

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic jumped out to a 41-23 halftime lead and held on to sweep the season series with Lynn, 80-65. Janelle Cannon led the way with 21 points and six rebounds.
The Sailfish (10-12) reached double digits in wins for the first time in the Carlos Palacio era and the first time since 2008-09 with the win. The ‘Fish outscored the Fighting Knights 21-8 in the second quarter to pull away after leading by five at the end of the first quarter.
Cannon scored 14 of her 21 in the first half, making 5-of-7 from the floor in the first 20 minutes. Nkiru Anyagaligbo added 10 of her 14 points in the first half. She recorded a double-double for the game adding 10 rebounds to go with her 14 points. Ayanna Holmes added a double-double of her own with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Nina Krstic scored in double figures for the first time since Dec. 15 against Virginia Union, scoring 17 on Wednesday night. Krstic knocked down three triples, two in the second half. She also added six rebounds and four assists to tie for the team lead with Hannah Grim. Grim added seven points and connected on a three of her own.
The ‘Fish shot the ball well from beyond the arc, knocking down 7-of-13 from long range, led by Cannon’s 3-for-3. PBA finished the game at 39.7 percent from the floor overall while Lynn shot 47.2 percent from the floor.
PBA forced Lynn into 27 turnovers in the game as Cannon collected six steals. PBA turned it over 21 times as Lynn turned those into 25 points. The ‘Fish scored 24 points off turnovers. The Sailfish dominated on the glass, pulling down 48 rebounds including 23 offensive boards while Lynn collected 39 total rebounds.
The Sailfish are back in action this Saturday as they take on the University of Tampa on the road. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
