Sailfish Suffer Third Straight Loss, Fall to Barry 116-92

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball team dropped their third straight contest Saturday evening, falling 116-92 to Barry University in Miami Shores.

The game opened up quickly in favor of the Buccaneers, as Barry jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening minutes of the contest. The Bucs had their way with the Sailfish for the remainder of the contest, as Barry led from the tip until the final buzzer.

The Sailfish shot 45.9 percent from the field on the night, hitting 34-of-74, including 10-of-23 from distance.

Four Sailfish finished in double-figures on the night, Lucas Morales, Bakari Warthen, Malek Barber, and Osandai Vaughn.

Vaughn led the way with 15 points and four rebounds, followed by Warthen’s 12 points. Morales finished with 11 and four rebounds, and Barber finished with 11, including four-of-five from the charity stripe.

The Barry Buccaneers were led by Yunio Barrueta, and his impressive 41 points. The senior knocked down 16 field goals including eight three-pointers.

The Sailfish are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 10 as they host cross-county foes Lynn University at 7:30 p.m. in the Rubin Arena.
