Men's Tennis Sweeps St. Thomas 9-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team opened up their 2016 season on Friday on a chilly night at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The Sailfish dominated the Bobcats from St. Thomas University as they won all nine matches on the day.

No. 17 ranked Nicolas Uryson got his season started on a high note, as the senior defeated Kevin Cubela 6-1, 6-1. New to the Sailfish roster this season is Hendrik Burmeister, who won his singles match 6-2, 6-4. Senior Nicholas Battistini defeated Luis Soto 6-4, 6-2 in No. 3 singles.

Thomas Salmon, Pietro de Silva, and Andre Nunez also won their singles matches Friday, with Salmon’s match ending after he won a second set tiebreaker.

The Sailfish swept through the doubles competitions on the evening, as Uryson/Burmeister were victorious by an 8-3 score, Salmon/de Silva won 8-6, and Battistini/Arroyo won 8-6.

The men will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on the Flagler College Saints. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
