Women's Tennis Opens Season with 7-2 Victory

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team got their season started on a good note Friday evening as they defeat the St. Thomas Bobcats by a final score of 7-2 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.

The Sailfish took all three doubles matches to start the day as the team of Kathi Tesar and Taylor Conti won their match 8-1. The teams of Valerie Nagovitcina/Maja Jovic and Teona Tatishvili/Michaela Mignemi also won their doubles matches.

On the singles side of the day, Tesar won her first match as a member of the Sailfish by a 6-1, 6-0 score. The junior Nagovitcina won her No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-0, the same final score as Tatishvili defeated her No. 3 singles opponent by.

Jovic and Conti both narrowly lost their singles match by 8-6 finals in pro sets as Mignemi won her first match of the season by an 8-2 final.

The women will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on the Flagler College Saints. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
