JUPITER, Fla. – Andrew Calderone sent the Sailfish fans home happy at Roger Dean Stadium, delivering a one-out double to score Jake Summey as the ‘Fish rallied to defeat No. 22/20 Lynn 5-4 on Tuesday night.

The Sailfish (2-2) got a strong start from Eric Russell who tossed six innings and was in line for the win when he left with a 4-2 lead. Russell struck out seven allowing just three hits and two runs, both on a two-run homer in the first off the bat of John Silviano. He responded by sitting down the next nine in order before a double in the fourth.

PBA bounced back after falling behind 2-0 in the first by tying the game at 2-2 in the second. A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Kyle Simon and a walk to Hakeem Rhodes pushed across both runs after Peter Rivera led off the inning with a single and was followed by Ryan Johnson’s double.

The ‘Fish took the lead in the third as Rivera doubled home Sean Visconti who singled with one out. PBA added another run in the fifth on a double by Kyle Simon who plated Mac Hessney. Simon finished with two RBIs as Rivera notched three hits. Hakeem Rhodes was on base three times with three walks. Ryan Johnson also walked three times.

Dominic Monda tossed three innings in relief for the ‘Fish and struck out seven but Lynn scored two unearned runs off the lefty as the ‘Fish made three errors combined in the eighth and ninth innings. They finished the game with four.

An error helped lead the victory for PBA as Summey reached with one out in the 10th. Calderone followed with a blast off the center field fence to end the game, his only hit of the game.

David Paul (1-0) picked up the win allowing one hit in one inning of work. Payton Smith (0-1) took the loss for the Fighting Knights.

The Sailfish are back in action this weekend, hosting No. 8/8 West Alabama in a three-game set. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
