Five Sailfish Selected to NSCAA All-South Region Team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team added even more accolades to it’s long list of post-season awards for the 2015 season, as five Sailfish were named to the 2015 National Soccer coaches Association of America All-South Region Team Wednesday afternoon.

The Sailfish had four named to the First Team, goalkeeper Steeven Raymont, midfielders Lucas Coutinho and Tom Gavin, and forward Lucas DaSilva. Jermaine Metz was honored with a Second Team selection.

Steeven Raymont, a senior goalkeeper from Bazicourt, France, accumulated over 1600 minutes in net for the Sailfish this season, only allowing 20 goals while picking up nine clean sheets on the year.

Lucas Coutinho, a junior midfielder from Recife, Brazil, finished 3rd in the country in assists per game averaging 0.88 per contest. He also finished tied for 8th in the country while leading the Sailfish with 14 assists on the year. Coutinho scored eight goals on the year, tallying 30 total points. The junior finished fourth on the team in points despite missing four games due to injury. The junior was also named to the 2015 D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association All-South Region First Team.

Tom Gavin, a senior midfielder from Hartlepool, England scored four goals and picked up three assists on the year. Gavin was unquestionably the leader for the Sailfish on and off the pitch, and served as the team’s captain in his two years at Palm Beach Atlantic.

Lucas DaSilva, a sophomore forward from West Palm Beach, Fla., led the nation’s top offense in goals scored with 17 and total points with 41. DaSilva finished the year 7th in the country in goals scored and 10th in total points. The sophomore was also named to the 2015 D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association All-South Region First Team.

Jermaine Metz, a midfielder/forward from Manchester, England, started in all 20 matches for the Sailfish this year while scoring 11 goals and dishing out 12 assists, combining for 34 points while playing 1,464 minutes. Metz finished 14th in the nation in assists, and was named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team earlier this month. The senior was also named to the 2015 D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association All-South Region First Team.
