AUSTIN, Texas- Senior midfielder Jermaine Metz has been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Men’s Soccer Third Team Monday afternoon, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The psychology major from Manchester, England helped lead the way as the Sailfish boasted their best record in program history (17-2-1), best national ranking in school history (No. 4), and reach the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Metz finished the year second on the team in each of the follow categories: goals (11), assists (12) and points (34). He scored three game winning goals on the season, as well as three game-tying goals, two of which came in Sunday’s NCAA Quarterfinal loss.

The Englishman is the third Sailfish to earn the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team honor, following Kenny Hogg (men’s soccer, 2012) and Ashley Dolberry (women’s basketball, 2013)

Earlier in the year, Metz was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All District First Team along with Michael O'Sullivan.

To be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or an important reserve.
