WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic Men’s soccer team picked up their 13th win on the season Wednesday night, defeating fellow SSC Provisional Member Embry-Riddle. With the win, the Sailfish surpass last season’s win total of 12. The Sailfish are now 13-0-1 on the year, and the Eagles fell to 2-8-0.
The first half was a dry one on the scoreboard, but a wet one on the field Wednesday night. Despite all the rain, there were no weather delays at the Rinker Athletic Campus as both the Sailfish and the Eagles were held from the net during the opening 45.
The Sailfish were able to able to muster up four shots in the first half, with only one of them being on target. With the no scoring aside, it was a very fast paced first half as both teams did a magnificent job with their possession as it was pretty even throughout the opening half.
The second half was a different story, and was well in favor of the Sailfish. Senior Cameron Roberts scored on an absolute laser in the 54th minute to score first for the Sailfish. The goal was Robert’s second on the year, and was assisted by Jermaine Metz.
The Sailfish would add an insurance goal in the 58th minute as Lucas Kuscevic scored on a Penalty Kick to bring the game to it’s final score of 2-0.
Steeven Raymont (13-0-1) picked up four saves on the evening, but the biggest save of the night came in the 80th minute as Raymont saved a Eagles penalty kick, helping preserve his fourth clean sheet on the year.
The Sailfish are back in action Saturday night, Oct. 24 at the Rinker Athletic Campus as they host Barry University at 7 p.m.
