'Fish Fall Short Against Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s soccer team traveled to take on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Wednesday, in a battle of Sunshine State Conference provisional members. The Eagles would come out on top, defeating PBA by a score of 2-1.
The loss drops the Sailfish to 4-8-1 on the season, while the Eagles record improves to 9-3-1.
The Eagles got the scoring started in the 17th minute, as a Stina Naess Berge header off of a corner kick found the back of the net. Sailfish goalkeeper Isabelle Granlund made several solid first half saves, but another shot late in the first half rattled in of a rebound to make it 2-0 in favor of the Eagles.
The Sailfish made the game interesting late, as sophomore Nicole Shaffer scored her first goal of the season in the 88th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. That is where the score would stand, as the ‘Fish were unable to get an equalizing goal and would fall by the 2-1 final.
The Sailfish will be back in action on Saturday, as they will wrap up the full Sunshine State Conference portion of their schedule against the No. 7 ranked Barry University Buccaneers in Miami Shores, Fla. at 7 p.m.
