Indianapolis, Ind.- When the first official NCAA Regional Rankings for the 2015 season was released Wednesday afternoon, the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team sat atop the South Region Rankings.
This is the first time in Palm Beach Atlantic NCAA Division II history that a Sailfish team has earned the number one spot. The regional rankings are used to determine who gets in the NCAA National Tournament at the end of the regular season.
PBA is a member of the south region, and will send four teams to the NCAA Tournament. Alongside PBA, the other ranked south region teams are Lee University in the second spot, while Alabama-Huntsville sits in third. They are followed by Tampa (4), Saint Leo (5), and Lynn (6). PBA has faced four of the five other ranked teams, posting a 3-0-1 record against them.
The Sailfish are currently 12-0-1 on the year (10-0-1 regional record), and look to improve on their record Wednesday night as they host Embry-Riddle. PBA will also host Barry University Saturday evening, and both games are set for 7 p.m. start times.
