Women's Golf Completes Saint Leo Invitational

SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s golf team finished play at the Saint Leo Women’s Invitational Tuesday when the second round came to a close. The ‘Fish had the opportunity to compete against six of the top twelve teams in the nation at the invite, and after a trying day one, saw improvements from each golfer in the second round of play. When the invite closed, it was Barry University who came out on top with a composite score of 596 for the tournament.
Day Two: Each of the Sailfish women were able to build upon their first round scores or stay consistent to grab lower second round scores and finish out the Par-72 round strong. The ‘Fish were led once again by Tracy Peyton, who improved by 7 strokes (89-82-171), and Victoria Hays who improved by 3 (89-86-175). Also making a great leap from Day one to Day two was Michelle Turner who lowered her score by 11 strokes in the second round (106-95-201), highlighted by a birdie-eagle (back to back) assault on the par four 15th and 16th holes.
Day One: After one round, the ‘Fish finished at 375 (+87) as a team; good for 16th in the field. Standing out for the women Monday were Tracy Peyton and Victoria Hays, both shooting 89s for the round. Julia Kaminski (94) and Hayley Betz (97) also posted solid scores for the round. Also competing for the ‘Fish were Katie Humphreys (100) and Michelle Turner (106).
The Sailfish women’s golf team has wrapped up the Fall portion of their 2015-16 schedule and will be back in action on Feb. 22 at the Grasslands Collegiate Invitational in Lakeland, Fla.
