'Fish Take 1st in Non-D1 Portion of USF Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s cross country faced a difficult task on Friday evening, coming back after running less than a week ago on Saturday at Disney. The Sailfish were just one of two non-Division I schools to run on Friday at the USF Bulls Invitational, defeating Rollins by a team score of 22 to 33.

Sophia Miller placed second among non-Division I runners with a time of 24:45.30 on the 6K course. The freshman has led the ‘Fish in every race this season. Alise Montgomery followed Miller with a time of 26:15.00 to finish in fourth. Alyssa Hearing took fifth with a time of 26:18.20.

Anne-Marie Blaney – who was running unattached – led the non-Division I runners with a time of 21:13.80. Rollins was led by Nicole Hubert (25:33.70) in third. Cynthia Chelelgo from Florida A&M won the Division I portion of the race with a time of 21:50.70 while Florida Gulf Coast won the team portion.

PBA’s Lexi Fenton came in seventh with a time of 26:51.00 to give the ‘Fish four in the top-10. Kayla Webbe posted a time of 28:28.40 to place 16th. Faith Russell came across the line in 32:12.60 to place 20th while Lauren McInnes placed 25th with a time of 35:17.70.

The ‘Fish will be in action again on Nov. 7 at the NCAA Regionals hosted by Saint Leo.
