Sailfish Win Battle of the Unbeaten, Defeat Eckerd 3-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The No. 4 Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team faced arguably their biggest opponent of the season Saturday night at the Rinker Athletic Campus and came out victorious over the Tritons of Eckerd College 3-0.

The matchup featured two statistical juggernauts, as the ‘Fish were leading the nation in goals per game (4.91) and the Tritons were leading the country in goals allowed (3). With the PBA win, the ‘Fish advance to 11-0-1 on the year, and the Tritons now stand at 7-1-1.

Things got going for the Sailfish in the first half when Lucas DaSilva scored in the 22nd minute off the pass from Jerry Saint-Vil. The goal for DaSilva is his 13th on the campaign, which ties him back atop of the nation’s lead in goals.

The first half would end with the Sailfish leading 1-0 over the Tritons. The ‘Fish took eight shots on goal in the first half, with two of them being on target.

Tom Gavin started things for the Sailfish in the second half, scoring on a PK in the 50th minute following a hand ball inside the 18-yard box on the Tritons. The goal was Gavin’s fourth of the year and happened to be his third via the penalty.

The icing on the cake for the Sailfish came in the 60th minute as Oscar Farias scored his seventh goal on the year to extend the lead to 3-0.

Steeven Raymont (11-0-1) picked up two saves on the night as he earned his third clean sheet on the season.

The Sailfish are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 14th as they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to take on the Rollins College Tars at 7 pm. The ‘Fish are back at the Rinker Athletic Campus Wednesday, Oct. 21 when they host fellow Sunshine State Conference Provisional Member Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at 7 pm.
