Sailfish Cross Country Compete at Disney Cross Country Classic

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s cross country turned in a solid performance in a crowded field at the 20th Annual Disney Cross Country Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Saturday morning.
The ‘Fish were once again led by freshman Sophia Miller who placed 99th out of a field of over 300 runners in the Ursula (College Women’s) Division. Miller turned in a time of 20:47.40 and was followed by redshirt-freshman Alise Montgomery who placed 125th with a time of 21:16.40 – her fastest time of the season.
Johns Hopkins was the team winner and had the top-runner in Sophia Meehan who paced the field in a time of 17:41.50. Johns Hopkins had all five scorers in the top-8 and seven of the top 11. Their score of 24 outpaced Malone University’s 94 points.
Junior Alyssa Hearing turned in a time of 21:49.90 for the ‘Fish and was followed by Lexi Fenton who crossed the finish line in 22:14.50. Kayla Webbe also competed for PBA and clocked in at 23:41.50. Faith Russell (25:49.30), Sydney Jones (25:51.30) and Lauren McInnes (27:45.90) also ran for PBA with McInnes turning in her best time of the season.
The Sailfish will return to the course on Friday, Oct. 16 in Tampa at the USF Bulls Invitational.
